Manage quality control routines across all manufacturing processes, ensuring that in-process and finished products are manufactured within specifications. Manage specification system for in-process and finished products, cleaning & sanitizing and other chemicals in manufacturing. Manage performance, development and growth of all FSQ employees.

Responsibility and Duties:

  • Execute FSQ competency training program within the plant to drive continuously enhanced employee knowledge in roles and responsibilities impacting FSQ.
  • Manage specification systems for ingredients, packaging materials, cleaning & sanitizing and other chemicals at receiving.
  • Manage hold events for ingredient and packaging materials resulted from positive release process at receiving.
  • Lead Food Safety Team, manage effectiveness of Food Safety Management System and its Calendar of Activities.
  • Sponsor and mentor HACCP & PRP Team.
  • Manage attainment and effectiveness of Preventative Maintenance program impacting Food Safety and sanitation performance.
  • Manage SQF System, annual certification and calendar of activities for all supporting programs.
  • Manage all SQF required programs, such as internal audit, document control, etc.
  • Manage FSQ and Sanitation performance metrics and associated CI initiatives.
  • Drive cross-functional CI initiatives to enhance effectiveness of FSQ management systems.
  • Manage investigations, root-cause analysis and corrective action plans associated to process deviations.
  • Drive the application of Quality Engineering methods in FSQ, including SPC, RCA, FMEA, etc. to enhance FSQ aspects of the capacity of our processes.
  • Manage testing and positive release process for finished products.
  • Manage execution of actions associated to deviations, hold events and positive release of finished product.
  • Manage compliance aspects of plant operations with regards to FDA regulations including but not limited to 21 CFR Part 120 and 21 CFR Part 117, as well as USDA or any other federal, state or local regulation.
  • Manage routines to ensure availability of supplies, equipment maintenance and resources required for the optimum operation of analytical and microbiology laboratories.
  • Manage trending, investigations and CI initiatives, associated to customers and consumer complaints.
  • Manage FSQ aspects of commissioning and Qualification production runs for new products in commercial scale.

Supervisory Responsibilities:

Manage the overall functions of the FSQ department:

  • Manage competency development, effectiveness of technicians.
  • In conjunction with the HR Manager, lead FSQ competency training program within the plant to drive continuously enhanced employee knowledge in roles and responsibilities impacting FSQ
  • Manage Validation of sanitizing processes for thermal processes and fillers.
  • Manage attainment of Master Sanitation Schedules for facility.
  • Manage sanitation record review routines.
  • Lead HACCP & PRP team
  • Play the role of SQF practitioner, plan, lead and execute.
  • Manage activities of FSQ department associated to positive release, deviations, holds and corrective actions associated to ingredients and packaging materials.

Qualifications:

  • Certification and experience in Juice HACCP and 21 CFR Part 120.
  • Experience in Sanitation and Pathogen Environmental Monitoring.
  • Better Process Control School for Low Acid Canned Foods

Education and/or Experience:

Bachelor's degree (B. S.) in Food Science, Food Technology, Chemistry, Biology, Microbiology or other related science-based degree. Three (3) years of management experience in FSQ within food or beverage manufacturing; five (5) years in FSQ or Production roles in food or beverage manufacturing. Experience in managing GFSI certification, i.e. SQF, FSSC 22000 or BRC, PCQI certification and experience. Experience in developing and implementing and improving Food Safety Plans and compliance to 21 CFR Part 117.
