ORGANIZATION OVERVIEW
The mission of the Information Technology Department provides expertise in computing hardware and software support, as well as telecommunications services for the entire Laboratory. The Information Technology Department also investigates, recommends, and automates process improvements to business systems within the Lab community as well as oversees library, publications, records management and technical editing functions.
POSITION DESCRIPTION
The Information Technology Department has an opening for a Deskside Support Technician.
Responsibilities include 2nd level troubleshooting of desktop applications, network connectivity and all computer hardware and peripheral devices. Will maintain and use technical expertise and tools to investigate, troubleshoot and resolve service requests in a timely manner. Must be familiar with installing and troubleshooting Windows 11 operating systems and MAC OS operating systems. Must have excellent customer service skills and the ability to work well as an individual and in a team environment, following documented policies and procedures. Will also handle walk-in customer issues and requested one-on-ones. Must be a fast learner and highly reliable.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Technical Training or experience and a minimum of one (1) year of experience supporting hardware and/or software in a Windows 11 environment
Advanced working knowledge of Windows 11 operating system
Working knowledge of MAC OS operating systems.
Experience with Microsoft Office 365 suite.
Experience with hard disk imaging software
Experience with Remote control support tools
Familiar with completing tasks in Active Directory
Accurately record, update and document Incidents / Requests using a Helpdesk ticketing system
Ensure work is carried out within agreed service levels and in accordance with department guidelines
A valid driver's license is required for on-site system pickup and deliveries
Experience in providing superior customer service
Preferred Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
MCP/A+ or other relevant certifications.
Working knowledge Linux.
Familiar with Video Conference Software.
Familiar with Hard Disk Encryption software.
Other Information:
Drivers' license, use of private car.

Compensation:
Brookhaven Laboratory is committed to providing fair, equitable and competitive compensation. The full salary range for this position is $55,450 - $92,550/ year. Salary offers will be commensurate with the final candidate's qualification, education and experience and considered with the internal peer group.
