Job Summary:
Marist College Counseling Services is seeking a full-time clinical counselor possessing strong generalist skills, enthusiasm to contribute to a campus culture of wellness, and commitment to social justice to join our team. This 10-month position involves provision of a range of services to a diverse student population, including conducting intake assessments; providing individual counseling, group counseling, and consultations; crisis response and intervention; on-call rotation; and innovative outreach programming. The ideal candidate will have and apply knowledge of intersectionality and how it impacts the daily lives of students of diverse identities and backgrounds. Counseling Services is committed to enhancing student mental health through accessible, culturally-informed care and contributing to a campus culture of inclusiveness, equity and wellness.
Minimum Qualifications:
Doctoral degree in Counseling or Clinical Psychology from an APA-accredited program; Licensed Psychologist or license-eligible in New York State.
OR
Master’s degree in Clinical Social Work or Mental Health Counseling; Licensed or license-eligible in New York State (e.g. LCSW or LMHC) within one year of assuming the position.
Demonstrated experience providing clinical services to college students.
Essential Functions:
Provide intakes, individual and group counseling within a culturally responsive and inclusive lens
Conduct risk assessments and crisis interventions including facilitating referrals to higher levels of care, e.g. hospitalizations.
Develop and implement culturally- and trauma-informed prevention and outreach programs on an array of mental health-related concerns.
Collaborate and liaison with campus partners, including participation in campus-wide committees and Student Affairs events
Participate in emergency on-call rotation after-hours and weekends to students in acute distress and coordinate crisis intervention response in consultation with the Director and Assistant Director.
Provide consultations to faculty, staff, students, administration and families on student behavioral and mental health concerns.
Maintain current, accurate and timely clinical documentation in accordance with legal, ethical and professional guidelines
Other duties as assigned.
Preferred Qualifications:
Strong generalist skills with specialization and/or expertise in interpersonal psychotherapy, DBT, ACT, and/or other evidence-based practices.
Demonstrated dedication and attentiveness to multicultural issues, social justice and intersectionality in serving historically marginalized students as well as commitment to ongoing development of cultural competencies.
Committed self-care practice to maintain resilience.
Interest, experience, and commitment to facilitating groups.
Effective at designing/presenting trainings and outreach programs to students, faculty, staff.
Flexibility responding to high demand for services and changing program needs.
Familiarity with Titanium electronic medical record.
Excellent oral, written, and interpersonal skills.

~ Tuition Benefits:
~ Up to 16 undergraduate credits per semester. Up to 18 graduate credit per academic calendar. Eligibility extends to employee, spouse, and dependent children under age 26.
~ College pays 100% tuition only.
~ Eligible dependents may be Reimbursed up to $2,000 per semester towards tuition at another accredited institution.

About the Department/School:
Counseling Services is a thriving center providing culturally- and trauma-informed services to undergraduate and graduate students while supporting the greater Marist community. Services include individual and group counseling, crisis intervention, consultation, psychiatric services and campus-wide psychoeducational programs/outreach. Our multidisciplinary staff consists of psychologists, clinical social workers, mental health counselors, graduate interns, a psychiatrist and consulting nutritionist. We strive for holistic wellness through our working relationships with other campus constituents, such as Health Services, Housing, Accommodations, and Academic Affairs.
